Office Furniture Fit OutsThe Brief
BT Office were approached by Miki Travel to support them in their expansion programme, putting together an office layout design for their new central London office that would accommodate up to 150 staff. The project was to be carried out over two phases, with the contract awarded to the office space design that best accommodated staff working patterns and a limited budget. Phase one required spatial planning and furniture specified to meet the current needs of up to 90 employees. This included areas for a reception, executive offices, open-plan offices, meeting rooms, and a breakout room. Phase two needed to integrate an additional 60 workspaces with minimal disruption, seamlessly blending with phase one while optimising staff efficiency and maintaining a simple floor plan.

Our in-house CAD team swiftly addressed the challenge of optimising the available floor space. We provided guidance on space utilisation and office furniture selection to enhance performance across both phases. To stretch the client’s budget, we specified bench desking throughout the main open-plan office, featuring twin monitor arms and surface power modules on each desk. Additionally, we included 150 office lockers with contrasting finishes to define office zones and offer storage for persona belongings, helping maintain the office’s crisp, clean, and minimal aesthetic.

Situated next to the canteen, the 36-seater breakout area needed a distinct ambiance from the main office. We specified three contrasting breakout seating styles to diversify the space: Scandinavian high bench-style tables, booth seating, and free-standing tables.

With offices around the world, all six meeting rooms needed to support international conference calls as well as internal confidential meetings. We specified in-surface power modules tailored to Miki Travel’s needs, selecting the ‘Rotadock’ unit for its ability to conceal sockets when not in use, aligning with the office’s minimalistic design.
