St Helen’s House is a Grade I listed building in Derby described as “one of the few surviving purpose-built Georgian gentleman’s town houses of this size and quality outside London.”

We were delighted when GCA Consulting approached us to supply the commercial office furniture for their new company home and serviced office facilities in this majestic space. With its incredible architecture, tall ceilings, and opulent staircase, this was certainly one of the more remarkable workplaces we’ve worked with.

The brief we received from GCA Consulting was to supply the commercial office furniture for this historic gem that would create an unmatched blend of modern amenities and timeless charm. This would consist of unique private offices, numerous collaborative co-working spaces, a welcoming reception area, directors’ & managers’ offices, and a state-of-the-art conference room.

Designed to welcome tenants and visitors alike, the reception needed to embody the epitome of professionalism and hospitality that St Helen’s House offers. The Italian reception desk was a key component of our office furniture fitout and was specially adapted to bring a simple and practical elegance to the space. This showcased the craftsmanship of the internal architecture and welcoming feature fireplace.

Conference Room

Equipped with the latest technology and connectivity, a well-designed conference room ensures seamless communication and collaboration for all meetings and presentations. For GCA Consulting’s workplace furniture, we opted for a 4.4m shaped conference table with natural walnut veneer top, polished angled aluminium frame, and surface mounted power modules. Paired with upholstered black leather chairs with chrome frames, this created a timeless space where history now meets contemporary innovation.

The diverse working styles and needs of the residential clients of St Helen’s House’s required a flexible office space, enabling each client to simply ‘plug in & go’. In addition, it was critical that each room had its own unique identity created by the office furniture and finishes specified.

Drawing from the extensive number of UK and European manufacturers we partner with at BT Office Furniture, we installed 28 desks consisting of 2-, 4- and 6-seater bench desks over 2 floors. Some desks give a subtle nod to a natural Scandinavian look, while others have a sprinkle of a central London vibe. All-in-all, a well-balanced office furniture fitout.
