Some models don’t have any drawers: these can be a good solution for people who need only a simple surface in order to focus on writing. A Writing Desk will accommodate a laptop comfortably, though they are not designed to support heavy equipment.

Rectangular Desks

Rectangular Desks are simple and practical. Widths vary, allowing you to choose the right option for your needs. Standard widths include 1m, 1.2m, 1.4m,1,6m and1.8 m. The most popular width is 1.2 metres. Note that the minimum width for your desk should be 600mm. This size is usually used for home desks, but it is now increasingly used in offices as well. Small desks are ideal for laptop or tablet use; they are often used for touchdown or hot desk areas in offices where they will only be used for a short period of time. When deciding on the width of your desk, consider where the desk is going to be located, what equipment you need to put on your desk, and how much free space you need to work.

Integrated/Combination Desks

Integrated combination desks utilize storage units or drawer units as part of their structure: the drawer or storage units replaces the usual supporting leg. This serves to increase leg space, especially on smaller desks.

Computer Desks

Computer Desks are normally designed for home use, suited to users who need a monitor, computer tower and a printer. Computer Desks are bulkier than writing tables. Their practicality makes them a good choice for small business and home offices. Computer desks are sometimes designed with a hutch to help make the most of the space above the computer, and sometimes they have front-closing cabinet doors. They remain a popular option for home offices.

Sit/Stand Desks

Sit/Stand Desk are effective for preventing a sedentary lifestyle. The most common form of a standing desk is adjustable, so users can switch from sitting to standing throughout the day. Sitting all day can increase the risk of many diseases; standing for long periods isn’t good for people either. The best working scenario is to alternate between sitting and standing throughout your day

Sit/Stand Desks are adjustable in their height via a desk mounted electric controller. Some desks are available with a height setting controller that can be programmed to each user’s requirements.

A typical Sit/Stand desk with have a minimum setting of 600mm and a maximum setting of 1260mm from the floor to the top of the desktop. Single desks and twin desks, with two users facing each other, are now more commonly introduced into offices, because these days companies accept that staff comfort and ‘well working’ are increasingly important in any modern working environment.

Desktops are usually rectangular, but they can be L shaped, or with corners, in some ranges. Frames are available in either I frame or Corner post leg. They offer another great alternative for home use.

Height Adjustable Desks

Height Adjustable Desks are sometimes also considered to be Sit/Stand desks. The main difference is that Height Adjustable Desks are either set to a certain height when built or are manually adjusted by a crank handle.

Height Adjustable Desks do not have the same travel distance as Sit/Stand Desks, that is typically a minimum setting of 655mm and a maximum setting of 1005mm from the floor to the top of the desktop.

Glass Office Desks

Glass Desks are a sure way of maximizing any small space. They help to give the illusion of space whilst letting natural or artificial light pass through. Executive desks tend to be used in commercial offices more than in homes, but they would create an incredible statement piece, especially if you work from home regularly and want to create an office, study, or library.

Executive desks come in many different shapes and sizes. A straight desk would start at around 1200w x 900d and increase in size to over 1800w x 900d for a straight desk or 2000w x 2000d for a radial executive desk.
